The Board of Directors of the Linn County Humane Society met Monday, January 4, 2010, at the office of Andrea Vandeloecht in Brookfield, Missouri

Directors present: Dennis Hurlbut, Peter Janis, Ginny McMains, Frankie Chippas, Dave Ankeney, and Jim Arnold.

Directors absent: Karmen Robertson, Michelle Brosemer, Ryan Montgomery, DVM.


Not present: Eleanor Ravens, past board president and Kim Hoffman, Shelter Manager.

President Dennis Hurlbut presided over the business meeting.

MINUTES: Minutes of the December, 2009 meeting were distributed, corrected and approved.

TREASURERS REPORT: All bills paid except vets.

SPAY/NEUTER REPORT: Spaying and Neutering suspended until further notice due to financial considerations

SHELTER REPORT: Presented by Dennis Hurlbut in the absence of Kim Hoffman, Shelter Manager. Inspected, found in non-compliance with some paper work issues. Fined. Rescues we use must have Missouri license. Donations are down. People observed taking items out of donation boxes as they leave for personal use. Received a new to us (used) washer-dryer. Works great.

OLD BUSINESS: Personnel issues.

NEW BUSINES: Valentines dinner at Marceline Masonic Hall February 14, 2010. Will also have a silent auction. Help is needed in setting up, serving, and cleaning up afterward. Eleanor is in charge of arrangements.

SPAY/NEUTER REPORT: Spaying and Neutering suspended until further notice due to financial considerations

SHELTER REPORT: Presented by Dennis Hurlbut in the absence of Kim Hoffman. All quiet this month. Most paper work caught up and entered into computer.

OLD BUSINESS: Personnel issues. Hartz donation?? Need workers for the Food Pantry. Valentine Dinner in Marceline on February 14 at the Masonic Temple, 11:00am to 2:00pm. Need workers for setup, serving and clean-up.

NEW BUSINESS: Brookfield Casino night will be July 16, at the Brookfield Elks Lodge.

TREASURERS REPORT: All bills paid except vets.

SPAY/NEUTER REPORT: Spaying and Neutering suspended until further notice due to financial considerations

SHELTER REPORT: Presented by Jon Renshaw, acting Shelter Manager.

COMMITTEE REPORTS: Need workers for the Food Pantry in April. Dave Ankeny and Michelle Brosemer volunteered.

OLD BUSINESS:

NEW BUSINESS: Discussion of Dog Obediance Training Class. Amy McCollum has taught these in the past. Open House at shelter in the future. Check with Rescues that collect money from rescued dogs. We have incurred expenses supplying to Rescue, we should get some of their charges. Tune Fest in Marceline in September will have "Rin Tin Tin" here. We should show dogs at adoption center during Tune Fest.

ELECTION OF PRESIDENT: Michelle Brosemer elected president by unanimous acclaimation.

NEW BOARD MEMBERS: Joe Enyeart welcomed back to board. Still have 2 spaces to fill.

WALMART GRANT: Ginny McMains still waiting to hear back from Walmart.

FUNDRAISERS: Marceline Garage Sale: Report $972.00  —  Walmart Bake Sale: May 15 (Sat.) 9:00am need baked goods  —  Casino Night (Elks-Brookfield) July 16 (Fri.)  —  Golf Tournament (Marceline) Aug. 13 (Fri.)  —  Brookfield Garage Sale?

PET FOOD PANTRY: by Dave Ankeny....successful. Next date Sunday, June 6 when Dave is older.

OLD BUSINESS: AT&T, Internet Bills (find a cheaper plan?). Older citizens memorial fund cap @ $100 per individual with higher amounts upon approval of board after consultation.

FUND RAISERS: Membership letters. Trivia Night in Marceline late winter - early spring. Marceline lunch. Brookfield Garage Sale in March or April, 2011.

NEW BUSINESS: Next Pet Food Pantry Dec. 5. Need cat, kitten and puppy food. Dog food OK.

SHELTER REPORT: Presented by Jon Renshaw, Shelter Manager. Furnace and plumbing repaired, courtesy of Brookfield Plumbing. New employees (part time) Roberta Staddie and Corey Seeking. Door sweeps have been installed.

FUND RAISERS: Membership letters. Eleanor requests any new names and addresses to add to list. Trivia NIght in Marcelin in Feb. date TBD. Ginny reported Pat & Terry Swift volunteerede to do question. Marceline lunch to be moved to April date TBD.

OLD BUSINESS: Cindy & Debbie reported on their progress for 60 sec. ad spot for movie theaters.

NEW BUSINESS: Note from Eleanor will take care of Christmas gift cards for shelter employees - donation would be welcome.
