Another happy ending for one of our dogs. This sweet boy was just sent on our last transport!!! The following email was forwarded to me from Anne in Quincy.

Nycole

Just wanted to let you know that Cash is a fabulous dog! I think I already have a forever home- my sister! The transport was great and on time. I look forward to working with you again!

Snoozing with my slippers! :)

This is Cooper he is another dog that we sent to Quincy. The following is an email I received from the rescue that he went to from there.

Hi everyone,

Just wanted to update you that Cooper has been neutered, and today went to his long-term foster in Miwaukee with a woman who is well known in rescue here as an expert foster mom! He seemed right at home with her dogs and she will take good care of him.

I will forward his link to petfinder as soon as we get him on the website. In the meantime, here is a photo we got in our yard. The little hand is my daughter's -- he has been so amazingly gentle with her at all times. He is a very sweet dog. Thanks again, everyone, for helping him.

Take care, April

I received the following emails about Daisy (formally Boogie), she went to Rescue on Friday Sept 16th. The pictures above are of Daisy, the one on the left is when she was at the shelter and the second is Daisy at her new home with her new doggy pals.

1st email

She's doing great but I took her and Baxter to the groomer yesterday and they both got the worst haircut ever!! It's a new fancy shop near me and the owner is not personable at all and she did a terrible job. Here is a picture of her to show you she's doing good. Just ignore the cut ...and the rawhides, toys and paper on the floor :)

Besides that, she is the BEST dog!! Did you meet her before she came here? She is so sweet and such a good girl. I think this is the first dog I've taken that didn't have other issues like fear or shyness and she's a breath of fresh air. Baxter the shih tzu liked her right away so they sleep together and it's already helping to bring him out of his shell. He doesn't especially appreciate it when she runs and jumps on his back though. haha. I have a vet appointment for her tomorrow. I had one scheduled for today but I got stuck on a work call and missed it. Her nails were very long and she had a few mats so it doesn't seem like her previous owners cared for her well. Poor girl. She'll have love from now on.

BTW, I changed her name to Daisy. She just didn't look like a Boogie to me. I'll keep you posted.

2nd email

Daisy (formally Boogie) is expecting! The vet confirmed it yesterday with an ultrasound. He saw at least two puppies but said it's too early to tell how many for sure. He thinks she's about 1/2 way there so another month or so. She also has an ear infection so we're treating that. I'll keep you posted when she has the puppies. She is such a good girl!!

I rescued a human today.

Her eyes met mine as she walked down the corridor peering apprehensively into the kennels.
I felt her need instantly and knew I had to help her.
I wagged my tail, not too exuberantly, so she wouldn't be afraid.

As she stopped at my kennel I blocked her view from a little accident I had in the back of my cage.

I didn't want her to know that I hadn't been walked today.
Sometimes the shelter keepers get too busy and I didn't want her to think poorly of them.

As she read my kennel card, I hoped that she wouldn't feel sad about my past.
I only have the future to look forward to and want to make a difference in someone's life.

She got down on her knees and made little kissy sounds at me. I shoved my shoulder and side of my head up against the bars to comfort her.
Gentle fingertips caressed my neck; she was desperate for companionship.

A tear fell down her cheek and I raised my paw to assure her that all would be well.

Soon my kennel door opened and her smile was so bright that I instantly jumped into her arms.
I would promise to keep her safe. I would promise to always be by her side.
I would promise to do everything I could to see that radiant smile and sparkle in her eyes.
I was so fortunate that she came down my corridor.
So many more are out there who haven't walked the corridors.
So many more to be saved. At least I could save one.

I rescued a human today.
